Job description
These individuals install, test, and repair aircraft systems and equipment. They identify problems, control quality, and certify the return to service of systems and equipment. They are employed by companies specializing in aircraft and by airlines.

Main tasks
- Install, overhaul, test, modify, repair, calibrate, and inspect aircraft electrical and electronic instruments, systems, and equipment.
- Research and identify causes of failure.
- Certify that installation and maintenance work conforms to performance and safety standards.
- Complete the appropriate documentation regarding the tasks performed on the aircraft.
- Comply with the prescriptions, technical drawings, policies and procedures, quality standards, and regulations in force.
- Optimize systems and equipment.
- Perform some basic mechanical tasks on aircraft.
Advancement and mobility
- Experience may lead to senior, supervisory or methods officer positions.
Avionics Inspectors, Mechanics, and Maintenance Technicians
- These individuals can obtain endorsements on their licences that enable them to verify and certify a wider range of aircraft and aircraft systems.
