Job description

These individuals supervise and coordinate staff who develop and maintain land. They are employed by:

  • Landscaping companies
  • Grounds and lawn care service companies
  • Arboriculture and pruning service companies
  • Cemeteries
  • Landscaping services for public works

Environment

  • Climatic conditions
  • Equipment, machinery, tools

Main tasks

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers who maintain grounds and other landscaped areas.
  • Bid on landscaping and grounds maintenance contracts.
  • Organize the planting and maintenance of trees, gardens, lawns, shrubs, and hedges.
  • Construct and install fences, decks, walkways, and retaining walls.
  • Establish work methods to meet deadlines and coordinate work with other sections.
  • Order materials and supplies.
  • Resolve work-related problems and recommend measures to increase productivity.
  • Manage and train staff.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards.
  • Draft reports
