Job description

These individuals operate various tools and equipment to transform wood.

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature
  • Equipment, machinery, tools

Main tasks

  • Examine raw logs and pieces of wood to determine their dimensions, condition, and quality.
  • Operate and control automatic sawmill equipment.
  • Adjust sawing equipment and replace saw blades or bands.
  • Use machines to sort and stack wood according to length and thickness and to transport piles of wood.
  • Monitor the movement of lumber and computer displays to ensure that lumber is cut to specifications.
  • Print production reports.
  • Clean and lubricate sawmill equipment.
