Modify your application after submitting it

If you have already submitted a permanent selection application, you can make changes to it or update it.

Add or remove a family member

You can add or remove a family member on your application for permanent selection.

These members can be:

  • a spouse
  • a de facto spouse
  • one or more dependent children

To add a spouse or common-law partner to your application, you must enclose:

  1. the permanent selection application form (PDF 1.46 Mb), completing only the sections for which you wish to add or amend information. This document must be completed by you and your spouse or common-law partner;
  2. the supporting documents in the requested format;
  3. the fee for adding a family member.

To add a dependent child to your application, you must attach:

  1. the permanent selection application form (PDF 1.46 Mb);
  2. the supporting documents in the requested formats;
  3. the fee for adding a family member.

To remove a family member from your application, you must send:

  1. a letter signed by you requesting the removal of this family member
  2. the supporting documents

Fee for adding or removing a family member

You must pay an additional fee for the review of your request to add a family member.

If you remove a family member, the application review fee you previously paid will not be refundable.

Attestation of learning about democratic values and Québec values

Anyone you add to your application who is 18 years of age or older will have 60 days to obtain their Attestation of learning about democratic values and Québec values unless they:

  • have a valid study or work permit and have already participated in the Objectif Intégration session
  • are exempted from it by regulation

Add or remove a person to represent you

You can give power of attorney to an immigration intermediary or an unpaid person.

To do so, you must attach the power of attorney form, Procuration – Mandat de représentation (PDF 186 Kb) (in French only), duly completed and signed by you and your mandatary.

To withdraw a representation mandate that you have entrusted to an immigration intermediary or an unpaid person, you must enclose a letter signed by you requesting the withdrawal of the mandate.

Update the information provided in your application

You must notify the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration if you have new information to add to your application for permanent selection, such as:

  • your assets
  • your liabilities
  • your income
  • your employment history
  • those of your accompanying spouse

To update the information provided in your application, you must attach:

  1. the updated permanent selection application form (PDF 1.46 Mb)
  2. the supporting documents in the requested formats
