Consulting a will

Once probated, the will becomes “usable” and can be consulted.

A holograph will or a will made before witnesses must first be probated by a notary or by the Superior Court. After probate, it becomes public.

If the will is probated by a notary, the notary issues certified copies of the will and the minutes of the probate to any interested person.

If the will is probated by the Superior Court, the clerk of the court issues, to any interested person, certified copies of: 

• the will; 
• the grant of probate; 
• any evidence supporting the application for probate.
