New information on trapping rules and notices
The trapping regulations are valid from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2028. They are updated every two years.
Here is where you can consult new information and changes made during the year.
Adjustments concerning transportation coupons
With the implementation of the online trapping licence sales system, certain adjustments must be made. From now on, for black bear, that requires the attachment of a transportation coupon, it will be mandatory to affix on the animal, in an indelible and legible manner, the unique transportation coupon number. You may do so by printing the transportation coupons attached to your digital licence and protecting them from the weather, by writing your unique coupon number directly on the animal or on any other medium, and attaching it to the animal. If you have a paper licence purchased from a licence vendor, you may attach the transportation coupon included with it.
Sale of a black bear pelt
From now on, when selling the raw pelt of a trapped black bear, proof of registration must be presented.

Three year notice
As of the 2027–2028 trapping period, the following traps will become mandatory.
Capture of coyotes
You must use killing snares that comply with the
Live capture of raccoons and coyotes
You must use traps certified in accordance with the Agreement on International Humane Trapping Standards (AIHTS) for the live capture of raccoons (cages and boxes) from 2027-2028 and coyotes from 2028-2029.
