Improving Your Job Interview Skills

Your interview skills can always be improved. Preparation is the key to a successful interview. It’s important to know the different types of interviews and the questions commonly asked. By following up on your interviews, you can learn where you excelled and where you need to improve.

The questions asked by recruiters are not random. Each one is aimed at determining whether you’re the right person for the job.

If you’re called to an interview by a recruiter, it’s because you’ve submitted a résumé and cover letter that seem to indicate you’re the person the employer is looking for. Interviews give you a chance to:

  • Stand out from the other applicants
  • Explain how your past experience is related to the job to be filled
  • Show your interest in the job

Recruiters attach considerable importance to these aspects and you may need to improve your approach.
