Job description

These individuals provide methodological and IT support to researchers. They participate in the various stages of research in the fields of humanities, administrative sciences, and public health. They organize and supervise data collection. They perform a statistical analysis and compile the data in specialized software. They work for:

  • Advertising agencies
  • Polling firms
  • The federal and provincial governments
  • Financial institutions
  • The media
  • Government agencies

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature

Main tasks

  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Conduct individual and group interviews.
  • Help develop research tools.
  • Quantify results using different methods (response counts, calculating percentages and averages, quantitative classification of the results by category, etc.).
  • Present the results of research using tables and graphics.
  • Draft, in whole or in part, research reports or other presentation documents.
  • Supervise statistical and research support staff, as required.

Advancement and mobility

  • Experience leads to supervisory positions.
  • A graduate degree is usually required for entry into professional positions in statistics and research.
