Job description

These individuals research mathematical theories in the fields of algebra, geometry, probability, and logic. They calculate and analyze mathematical data to find solutions for financial, economic, or scientific problems in an organization. They work for:

  • Universities
  • The government
  • Banks and trust companies
  • Insurance companies
  • Consulting firms
  • Professional associations

Main tasks

  • Identify and evaluate problems encountered by professionals in an organization (Engineers, Researchers, Actuaries, Accountants, Economists, etc.).
  • Develop new mathematical theories.

  • Produce reports and presentations for professionals or managers of an organization.
  • Teach mathematics.
