Police Officers
Job description
These individuals ensure the protection of the public and the detection and prevention of crime. Their interventions are aimed at maintaining law and order. This group includes detectives. They may work for the:
- Sûreté du Québec (SQ)
- Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)
- Municipal police forces

Main tasks
- Patrol in areas designated to maintain public order and safety.
- Enforce laws and regulations.
- Investigate criminal offences and accidents, obtain evidence, interview witnesses, and arrest suspects.
- Compile notes and reports.
- Testify in court.
- Rescue victims of accidents, criminal offences, and natural disasters.
- Participate in the development of crime prevention, public information, and safety programs.
- Monitor and coordinate the activities of other police officers, as required.
