Job description
These individuals manufacture, install, adjust, and repair the following products:
- Firearms
- Locks and keys
- Recreational vehicles
- Safes and vaults
- Saws
- Dies
- Metal items (tools, chains, etc.)
This group includes divers, who perform a variety of underwater activities (construction, rescue, photography, etc.).

Main tasks
Gunsmiths
- Make guns.
- Repair and modify firearms according to plans or client specifications.
Locksmiths
- Repair, install, and adjust locks.
- Make keys.
- Change the combination of locks.
Recreational Vehicle Technicians
- Repair or replace various RV components (electrical wiring, plumbing, doors, furniture, etc.).
Safe and Vault Installer-Repairer
- Install, repair, and maintain safes and vaults in various institutions (e.g. banks).
Saw Fitters
- Repair, adjust, and sharpen saws (band, chain, circular) and other types of blades, according to specifications.
Die Setters
- Select forging dies according to requests and specifications.
- Place, align, and bolt dies to mechanical presses and hammers.
Divers
- Perform various underwater activities (construction, rescue, photography, etc.).
Blacksmith(s)
- Forge metal items (tools, chains, etc.).
Advancement and mobility
- Qualified Recreational Vehicle Service Technicians obtain a Red Seal endorsement upon successful completion of the Interprovincial Standards Examination.
- Experience leads to supervisory positions.
