Applicant’s profile

You must own or take out a long-term lease on an electric vehicle to submit a reimbursement request for a home charging station.

Your vehicle can be a fully electric or plug-in hybrid model or an electric motorcycle. Your vehicle can be new or used.

Eligible buildings

The building where the charging station is installed must be a dwelling located in Québec.

For example, the building can be:

  • a single-family dwelling;
  • a row house;
  • a semi-detached house;
  • a duplex;
  • a second home.

The occupants of multiple dwelling buildings are eligible for financial assistance for a home charging station. However, the amount of the financial assistance offered for a multiple dwelling building charging station  could be more advantageous. Check whether you are eligible.

Time limit for applying

There is no maximum time limit between the date of acquisition of the vehicle and the date of the financial assistance application for a charging station.

However, you must possess your electric vehicle when you apply.

Consult the page When to apply for financial assistance devoted to the topic, if necessary.

General notice

Invoices in your name

Make sure that the charging station purchase or leasing invoices and the installation invoice are all in your name.

The amount that you pay to acquire and install the charging station must be at least $600, before taxes. Check the eligible expenses before submitting your application.

Eligible applicants

A person who resides in Québec and possesses an electric vehicle can apply for financial assistance for a home charging station.

The financial assistance is also offered to businesses, municipalities, and Québec organizations under certain conditions.

Example of a business application

A business can apply for financial assistance for a home charging station for an employee who lives in an eligible building and operates the company’s business vehicle. The business must submit the application in its capacity as the owner of the electric vehicle registered in its name. The purchase and installation invoices must be in the company’s name.

Specific cases

If you acquire a used vehicle

If you purchased a used electric vehicle and the previous owner obtained a reimbursement for a charging station, you can nonetheless benefit from financial assistance for a home charging station.

Indeed, the same vehicle can be eligible for several home charging station reimbursements. However, the installation address and the name of the owner indicated on the application must be different from those indicated in previous applications related to this vehicle.

If you change your electric vehicle

If you have already obtained a reimbursement for a home charging station, you can obtain a reimbursement for a second charging station if you have acquired a second electric vehicle or recently changed your electric vehicle.

The invoices that you append to your application must be those pertaining to the new charging station. The cost of purchasing and installing the new charging station must be at least $600, before taxes.

If you move

If you have already obtained a reimbursement for a home charging station and have kept your electric vehicle, you cannot apply for a reimbursement to acquire and install a charging station in your new dwelling.
