Prepare the supporting documents

Prepare an electronic copy of the requisite documents as PDF files or photograph each page of the documents with your cell phone.

The invoices must indicate that the amount was paid. Plans and specifications and bids are not accepted as proof of purchase or proof of the completion of the work.

Information on the vehicle

The following supporting documents and information related to your vehicle are required:

  • the vehicle identification number (VIN) (no supporting document is required);
  • the sales or long-term leasing contract of your electric vehicle. The electronic version of the contract that you append to your application must be complete and include the signatures;
  • the “Service received” document submitted when the vehicle was registered with the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ). The registration certificate alone is not accepted.

Proof of purchase or leasing of your charging station

The invoice for your charging station or leasing contract must include the following information:

  • your name and home address;
  • the date of the transaction;
  • the name or corporate name and contact information of the supplier;
  • a detailed description of the items covered by the transaction;
  • the amount of each item covered by the transaction and the total amount of the transaction, including taxes and other applicable fees;
  • in the case of a leasing contract, the monthly payments and the total amount spent at the conclusion of the leasing period.

If you made your purchase online, this information may be found in several documents. Be sure to submit with your application all the required documents.

Proof of the installation of your charging station

The invoice for the installation performed by an electrician must include the following information:

  • your name;
  • the home address where the work was performed;
  • the date of the installation;
  • the name of the electrical contractor;
  • the contractor’s RBQ licence number;
  • the detailed amount of the installation work and the total amount of the transaction, including taxes and other applicable fees.

If your charging station allows for both level 1 and level 2 charging, the proof of the installation must indicate that the voltage is suitable for a level 2 charging station.

Exception – An invoice for installation work is not required

If you already had a 240-volt outlet outside your dwelling or in your garage, you perhaps do not need an electrical contractor to install your charging station.

In this specific case, you must submit one or more photographs as proof of the installation of the charging station.

The photographs must include a view of the installed charging station and the 240-volt outlet, an overview of your dwelling, and the door number.

However, if the cost of purchasing or leasing your charging station does not exceed $600, your application will be inadmissible.
