Eligible applicants

Below is an overview of the applicable conditions and eligibility criteria to obtain financial assistance for a charging station for a multiple dwelling building.

This section of the program is intended for the residents of condominiums or multiple unit residential buildings who possess an electric vehicle. It also applies to property owners who wish to offer charging services to their tenants or the future residents of their multiple-unit buildings. 

Types of eligible applicants

The financial assistance application for a charging station for a multiple dwelling building must be submitted by:

  • a person who resides in a multiple dwelling building and possesses an electric vehicle;
  • the owner of a multiple dwelling building;
  • a property developer;
  • a property manager;
  • a property owner;
  • a syndicate of co-owners;
  • a business, a municipality, or an organization that has acquired an electric vehicle used by an employee who lives in a multiple dwelling building.

Other conditions apply.

Types of eligible buildings

To be eligible, the building where the charging stations are installed:

  • must comprise five or more dwelling units. If the building was built before October 1, 2018, it can comprise only three or four dwelling units;
  • can be for residential use or mixed use, e.g., residential and commercial use;
  • must have parking spaces grouped in a common area;
  • must be situated in Québec.

Buildings with three or four dwelling units – New condition

Buildings with three or four dwelling units built before October 1, 2018, are now eligible for the program. Only the expenses incurred for this type of building starting from April 18, 2023, are eligible.

Specific cases of applications submitted by residents

If you are a resident of the building and submit a financial assistance application, you must possess an electric vehicle registered in your name.

You can own or rent your place of residence.

Your vehicle can be a fully electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle or an electric motorcycle.

The financial assistance application for a multiple dwelling building charging station will be linked to this vehicle.

If you move, you cannot again obtain financial assistance for a charging station unless you purchase a new electric vehicle.
