Temporary Foreign Worker Program
Applying for a work permit from the Government of Canada
After obtaining your Québec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ), you must submit a work permit application to the Government of Canada.
It is possible that you will have to undergo a medical examination and security checks. If this is your case, the Government of Canada will notify you. The government will send you the list of doctors that you can consult for this purpose.
Exemptions
Depending on your type of employment, you might not have to obtain a work permit. Go to the Government of Canada Do you need a work permit to work in Canada? page to find out if this exception applies to you.
Costs and times
To know the costs and times for processing work permit applications, go to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada website.
It is possible that it will take several months to obtain the necessary documents to work temporarily in Québec. This time may vary depending on your country of origin.
During processing of your application
Because you now hold a Québec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ), you may register for the Integration service for immigrants.
This service will make it possible for you to prepare your arrival in Québec from your country of origin.
