Home charging station
Prepare your supporting documents to get financial assistance for a home charging station
Prepare an electronic copy of the required documents (in PDF format) or take a photo of each page of the documents using your mobile phone.
Invoices must indicate that the amount has been paid. Quotes and estimates are not accepted as proof of purchase or installation work.
Information on the vehicle
The following supporting documents and information are required:
- The vehicle identification number (VIN) (no supporting document required);
- The “Service received” document provided by the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) when the vehicle is registered, or the vehicle registration certificate.
Proof of purchase or leasing of the charging station
Your invoice or lease agreement must include the following information:
- Your name and home address;
- The transaction date;
- The name or business name of the supplier and its contact information;
- A detailed description of the items involved in the transaction;
- The amount of each item and the total amount of the transaction (including taxes and any applicable fees);
- If you are leasing the charging station: the monthly payment amounts and the total amount paid over the lease term.
If you purchased your charging station online, the information may be spread across several documents. Make sure to attach all required documents to your application.
Important: If the acquisition cost of your charging station (purchase or lease) does not exceed $600, your application will not be eligible. Make sure that all costs included in your calculation are eligible expenses.
Proof of the installation of the charging station
To prove that your charging station has been installed at your home, you can provide the invoice for the work done.
A quote or estimate is not accepted as proof of installation.
The invoice for installation work carried out by an electrician must include the following information:
- Your name;
- The address of the home where the work was done;
- The installation date;
- The name of the electrical contractor;
- The contractor’s RBQ licence number;
- The detailed cost of the installation work (including the cost of each item covered by the transaction), and the total amount of the transaction (including taxes and any applicable fees).
If your charging station supports both level 1 and level 2 charging, the proof of installation must indicate that the voltage is suitable for a level 2 charging station.
Exception – An invoice for installation work is not required
If you already had a 240-volt outlet outside your home or in your garage, you may not have needed an electrical contractor to install your charging station.
In this case, you must submit one or more photos as proof of installation.
The photos must show a view of the installed charging station and the 240-volt outlet and a general view of your home, including your house number.
Conditions to be met
