Home charging station
Eligible expenses for a home charging station
The amount of the government grant you may receive for the purchase of a home charging station is $600.
At the time you submit your application, your charging station must already be installed.
Eligible expenses
Eligible expenses refer to the acquisition cost of an eligible charging station (purchase or long-term leasing).
The acquisition cost refers to the price you paid, before taxes, for the charging station only.
To be eligible for the incentive, the actual amount you paid for your charging station must be at least $600, before applicable taxes.
Ineligible expenses
The following expenses are not eligible and cannot be included in the acquisition cost of the charging station:
- Delivery fees for the charging station;
- Fees for charging station accessories (mounting bracket, adapter, protective cover, charging port guard, anti-theft device, etc.)
- Fees for replacement parts;
- Fees related to the operation of the charging station (network management fees or maintenance costs);
- Fees for extended warranties;
- Taxes (GST and QST).
Installation fees for the charging station are not eligible. Examples include:
- Costs for installing a pedestal, etc.;
- Costs related to work on the home's electrical infrastructure (electrical wiring, buried cables, upgrades to the home’s electrical panel or the addition of a new panel, installation of an electrical outlet, etc.).
Promotion or discount received on a charging station
If you have benefited from a promotion — for example, from your dealer, automaker, the charging station manufacturer, or your municipality — that partially covered your acquisition costs, you may not be eligible for the government financial assistance.
If this promotion covered the entire cost of acquisition, you are not eligible for the government financial assistance.
Make sure you have an invoice in your name showing the acquisition of the charging station, the actual price paid, and any discount or promotion applied. The amount you actually paid must appear on your invoice.
You must have paid at least $600 (before taxes) for the acquisition of your charging station to be eligible for the government financial assistance.
Leased charging station
It is possible to lease your home charging station and still be eligible for financial assistance.
The acquisition cost of a leased charging station is equal to the total of all monthly payments — past and future.
A lease agreement for a charging station of less than 36 months does not qualify for financial assistance.
Date of expenses
You must have incurred your expenses after January 1, 2024, in order to submit an application for financial assistance.
Eligible expenses must also be incurred while the government financial assistance program for a home charging station is in effect. This condition applies to both the Roulez vert and Écorecharge programs.
If you acquired and installed your home charging station between February 1 and March 31, 2025 (the suspension period of the Roulez vert program), your expenses are not eligible for government financial assistance for a home charging station.
Required invoices
You must include with your application either the purchase invoice or the lease agreement for the charging station.
The invoice for the installation work will also be required to confirm that the charging station was installed at your residence.
Make sure the invoices contain all required information.
Verify that the model of charging station you acquired is eligible for financial assistance.
If in doubt, contact customer service before submitting your application.
