Home charging station
Eligible applicants for financial assistance for a home charging station
You must be the owner or long-term lessee of an electric vehicle to apply for financial assistance for a charging station installed at your residence.
Your vehicle may be a fully electric model, a plug-in hybrid vehicle, or an electric motorcycle. It can be a new or used vehicle.
Eligible homes
For this component of the program, the home where the charging station is installed may be:
- A single-family house;
- A row house;
- A semi-detached house;
- A duplex.
The building must be located in Québec and used primarily for residential purposes.
The residence may be a primary or secondary residence. You must choose which residence your application applies to.
You can receive only one grant for a charging station per electric vehicle. Refer to the section Examples of special cases for more details.
For people living in multiple dwellings
Electric vehicle owners living in a multiple dwelling (including a triplex or quadruplex) may be eligible for financial assistance to install an individual charging station in a multiple dwelling. Find out more!
Eligible applicants
An application for financial assistance for a home charging station may be submitted by a person residing in Québec who owns an electric vehicle. Make sure that both the invoice for the purchase or lease of the charging station and the invoice for the installation work are in the name of the electric vehicle owner.
This financial assistance program is also available to legal persons (businesses, municipalities, and organizations in Québec), subject to certain conditions.
Example of an application submitted by a business
A business may apply for financial assistance for a charging station installed at an employee’s residence when the vehicle used is owned by the business. The employee’s home must be an eligible dwelling under this program component.
The business submits the application as the owner of the electric vehicle registered in its name. The invoices for the purchase and installation must be issued in the name of the business.
Examples of special cases
You acquired a used electric vehicle
If you acquired a used electric vehicle and the previous owner received a government incentive for a charging station, you may still be eligible for financial assistance to install a charging station at your home.
Multiple government incentives for a charging station may be linked to the same vehicle. However, the installation address and the vehicle owner’s name must differ from those stated in previous applications related to that vehicle.
You replaced your electric vehicle or acquired a second one
If you have already received a government incentive for a home charging station, you may apply for a second grant provided you have acquired a second electric vehicle or recently replaced your electric vehicle.
The invoices included with your application must be for the new charging station. You must have spent at least $600 (before taxes) on the new station.
You moved
If you previously received a government incentive for a charging station and you still own the same electric vehicle, you are not eligible for financial assistance for a charging station at your new residence.
In fact, the installation address and the vehicle owner’s name stated in an application must always differ from those stated in previous applications already linked to that vehicle.
