Charging stations eligible for individual installation in a multiple dwelling

Your charging station installed in the parking area of your multiple dwelling must be included in the list of charging stations eligible under the Écorecharge program.

List of eligible charging stations

Before choosing your charging station, check that the model you are considering appears on the list.

Features of eligible charging stations

Level 2 charging

The residential charging station you install must support level 2 charging. This means it must be compatible with 208 or 240 volts AC (alternating current) and must be installed to operate with that voltage.

Connected charging stations

As of April 1, 2026, only connected charging stations will be eligible for financial assistance. The date on the purchase or rental invoice will be used to verify the station’s eligibility.

A connected charging station, also known as a “smart charger,” can receive, send, and process remote commands using a mobile app or a web application.

This type of charging station allows, for example, programming the start time and duration of charging based on a preset charging schedule, taking into account peak electricity demand periods on the electricity distribution network.

Other acquisition conditions to meet

Purchase or lease

You may purchase or lease on a long-term basis the charging station for your parking space in the multiple dwelling.

In the case of a lease, you must have a valid contract for at least 36 months to be eligible for financial assistance.

New charging station

The charging station you acquire must be new.

The purchase or lease of a used charging station does not qualify you for financial assistance.

A charging station used for demonstration purposes is not considered new at the time of resale and is therefore not eligible for financial assistance.

Acquisition from a Canadian retailer

You must acquire your charging station from a Canadian retailer. Charging stations marketed in Canada are approved by an accredited certification body, as required by law.

You may make your purchase online. Make sure the website is Canadian or Québec-based.

Invoices

When purchasing or leasing your charging station, be sure to keep all your invoices and ensure they are issued in your name.

You will be required to include a copy of one with your application for financial assistance.

Be sure to review the eligible expenses and the conditions related to installation work before submitting your application.

Ineligible charging station models

If the charging station you wish to install is not on the list of eligible models, you will not be able to apply for the government financial assistance.

Only charging station distributors and manufacturers may request to have a model added to the list of Écorecharge eligible models.
