Individual charging station in a multiple dwelling
Eligible applicants for financial assistance for an individual charging station in a multiple dwelling
Financial assistance is available to electric vehicle owners who wish to install a charging station near their parking space in a multiple dwelling.
You may live in a rental apartment building, a condominium building, or in a triplex or a quadruplex.
Eligible applicants
An application for financial assistance for an individual charging station in a multiple dwelling may be submitted by:
- a person who lives in a multiple dwelling and owns an electric vehicle. This person may be either the owner or the tenant of the dwelling.
- a business, municipality or organization that has acquired an electric vehicle used by an employee who resides in a multiple dwelling.
Property owners and condominium syndicates must use a different component of the Écorecharge program to apply for financial assistance for projects involving shared electrical infrastructure or the installation of charging stations.
Eligible buildings
For this component of the program, the building where the charging station is installed may be:
- a triplex;
- a quadruplex;
- a multiple dwelling with five or more units.
The building must also meet other criteria:
- The building must be used for residential purposes or for mixed use (e.g., residential and commercial).
- The building must provide parking spaces in a common area.
- The building must be located in Québec.
Other factors, such as the building’s construction date, will be considered to determine whether the installation work qualifies as an eligible expense.
Information about the applicant
When you submit an application for financial assistance for an individual charging station in a multiple dwelling, you must own an electric vehicle registered in your name.
You may be the owner or lessee of your electric vehicle.
Your vehicle may be:
- a fully electric vehicle;
- plug-in hybrid vehicle;
- an electric motorcycle.
Your application for financial assistance for a charging station will be linked to this vehicle.
Examples of special cases
You acquired a used electric vehicle
If you acquired a used electric vehicle and the previous owner received a government incentive for the installation of a charging station, you may in turn apply for financial assistance for a residential charging station (at home or in a multiple dwelling).
Multiple government incentives for a charging station may be associated with the same vehicle. However, the installation address and the vehicle owner’s name must be different from those stated in previous applications already linked to that vehicle.
You replaced your electric vehicle or acquired a second one
If you have already received a government incentive for a residential charging station, you may apply for a second incentive provided you have acquired a second electric vehicle or have recently replaced your electric vehicle.
The invoices you include with your application must be for the new charging station. You must also have spent at least $600 (before taxes) on your new station.
You moved
If you previously received a government incentive for a charging station and you still own the same electric vehicle, you are not eligible for financial assistance for a charging station at your new residence.
In fact, the installation address and the vehicle owner’s name stated in an application must always differ from those stated in previous applications already linked to that vehicle.
