Partition of employment earnings by former parental union spouses

Like de facto spouses, parental union spouses who separate can apply for partition of employment earnings registered under the Québec Pension Plan during the time they were together.

However, unlike for married or civil union spouses, partition is not automatic. You must make a joint application.

To learn how to go about this, see the relevant section on the Retraite Québec website.

Before making a decision, you should request a simulated partition of employment earnings to see the effects.
