Purchase procedure for future owners of a Novoclimat certified home
Notice about construction professionnal
If you are a construction professional, refer to the page Construction procedure for a Novoclimat certified home (in French only).
To purchase a Novoclimat certified home and receive financial assistance, follow the steps below or consult the document Novoclimat Participation Procedures – Home (PDF 634 Kb) (in French only) for more detailed information.
Step 1: Find a qualified contractor
You must hire a Novoclimat certified contractor to build your new home. Only certified contractors can obtain Novoclimat certification.
Your contractor is responsible for registering your home in the Novoclimat program, arranging mandatory inspections, and applying for certification.
To find a Novoclimat certified contractor in your region, see the section List of Novoclimat certified contractors.
Step 2: Register in the Novoclimat program
Make sure the Novoclimat option is included in the purchase contract for your new house. Some builders may hold Novoclimat certification but do not automatically offer this option when building a home.
Step 3: Inspection and compliance with Novoclimat requirements
Inspections are carried out by an evaluation advisor appointed by Novoclimat. They ensure that your home complies with all Novoclimat program requirements.
First inspection
Conducted before wall closing, this visual inspection includes a blower door test, which confirms the airtightness of your house and its energy performance. It helps identify any element that does not meet Novoclimat requirements and, if necessary, allows for corrective action to be requested from the builder.
Second inspection
Conducted at the end of construction, this inspection verifies that your new home meets Novoclimat program criteria and allows certification to be issued, where applicable.
Step 4: Certification and receipt of financial assistance
Once your house is Novoclimat certified, you will receive your certificate of compliance and the financial assistance you are entitled to.
