Lease for a private dam on water property in the domain of the State
The construction, maintenance and operation of dams, also referred to as water retention structures, on water property in the domain of the State require a lease.
You are concerned if:
- You are the owner or operator of a private dam, or their mandatary, and you do not hold a valid occupation right (lease or rental agreement) with the Ministère de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs;
- You are planning to undertake the construction of such a structure;
- You have questions relating to the occupation exercised by a private dam and its regularization on water property in the domain of the State.
Submitting an application
Complete the online form. In the application identification section, select “Dam/Water retention structure.” You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt once your application has been submitted.
A preliminary review of your application will then be carried out free of charge.
If the review shows that the structure is not located on water property in the domain of the State, you will be notified in writing.
If the review shows that the structure is located on water property in the domain of the State, processing of your file will continue and additional information may be requested, as required.
