when the spouses marry or enter into a civil union, or when one of the spouses does so with another person, or
through separation.
Unlike a divorce, ending a parental union does not require any particular legal procedures.
The former spouses can come to an agreement and partition their parental union patrimony together. In some cases, they can also agree on the payment of a compensatory allowance.
