Beware of fraudulent solicitations
We urge you to be vigilant if anyone contacts you or knocks on your door to offer you services or products in the name of the Chauffez vert program.
The Gouvernement du Québec does not make phone or door-to-door solicitations for its energy efficiency programs.
The aim of these ill-intentioned people may be:
- to pressure you into buying heating services or heating equipment;
- to persuade you to disclose personal information.
Some fraudsters pretend to work for reputable companies in order to obtain information from citizens who believe they are dealing with real employees.
If you believe you have been the victim of a fraudulent solicitation
If you believe you have been the victim of a fraudulent solicitation, here’s what you can do:
- File a complaint with the Office de la protection du consommateur.
- Contact your local police department.
- Register on the National Do Not Call List by calling 1 866 580-DNCL (3625) or by visiting Government of Canada website. After doing so, you should no longer receive any solicitation calls.
- If you have inadvertently provided personal or financial information, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or by visiting fraudcentre.ca.
To make a complaint about service quality
To constantly improve the quality of our services, we attach great importance to participants’ comments, suggestions and complaints.
If you are not satisfied with the services you received, we invite you to first contact the Chauffez vert program team. You can share your feedback or express your concerns by email at: chauffezvert@environnement.gouv.qc.ca
If you are not satisfied with this first step, you can file a complaint with the Bureau de la transition climatique et énergétique, part of the Ministère de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs.
Complaints are processed within 20 working days.
If, despite the intervention of the Bureau de la transition climatique et énergétique, you still believe you have been wronged by a decision or omission, you may submit a complaint for processing at a second instance to the Secrétariat général du ministère de l'Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs Parcs (MELCCFP).
A time frame of 20 working days also applies to the processing of these complaints.
