A police officer’s mission is to maintain peace, order and public security and to prevent and repress crime or statutory offences or by-law and municipal infractions and search for the offenders.
To carry out this mission, police officers ensure the security of persons and property, protect rights and freedoms, respect victims and are attentive to their needs. In addition, police officers work with the community in a spirit of respect for cultural pluralism and diversity.
