Obtaining a study permit from the federal government

As soon as you receive your letter of admission from a designated educational institution in Québec, you must apply for temporary selection for studies from the Québec government in order to obtain your Québec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ). If your application is complete, it will be processed within 25 business days.

You must apply for a study permit from the federal government.

For this, you must submit the Attestation of issuance of your Certificat d’acceptation du Québec  (CAQ – Québec Acceptance Certificate) for studies from the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI) deposited in your online file.

Costs and time

Visit the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada website for study permit fees and processing times

You may need a medical exam. If this is your case, the Government of Canada will notify you. The government will send you the list of doctors that you can consult for this purpose.
