Support and Employment Assistance for Indigenous People

Services are available across Québec to support First Nations and Inuit in their integration into the job market.

Support from employability assistance organizations for Indigenous people

The Gouvernement du Québec works with several Indigenous organizations that offer employment assistance services in several regions of Québec.

Kativik Regional Government

The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) is an organization that offers services to Inuit in the 14 communities in Nunavik and Montréal (Ivirtivik Centre). These services focus primarily on employment, training and economic development. 
The KRG's department of sustainable employment is available to support you in your employment process.

First Nations Human Resource Development Commission of Quebec

The members of the First Nations Human Resource Development Commission of Quebec (FNHRDCQ) offer services in 27 communities and 5 urban centres (Montréal, Québec, Val-d'Or, Sept-Îles and Gatineau). They offer counselling, training and development measures as well as employability services to members of First Nations to address their employment needs. They also support businesses wishing to hire Indigenous people.

Conseil des Atikamekw de Wemotaci

Développement social et de la main-d'œuvre (DSMO) aims to support members of the Wemotaci community who are seeking employment by helping them achieve their personal and professional potential.  It also administers the income assistance program and supports this clientele in integrating the job market by offering various employment and training measures (in French).

Cree Nation

Apatisiiwin Skills Development (ASD) aims to empower the Cree of Eeyou Istchee in their search for employment. The ASD offers programs and services that are geared to successfully securing employment for Cree and non-Cree job seekers in their field of interest.  Please contact your local ASD office for more details.

Regroupement des centres d'amitié autochtones

As the provincial association of Native Friendship Centres, the Regroupement des centres d'amitié autochtones du Québec offers employability and social integration services.

Several Native Friendship Centres provide individual support in attaining an overall sense of wellbeing that can lead to employment integration and retention in several municipalities in Québec.

With offices across Québec, Services Québec employees will present the various employment services and programs available to you.

You can meet with a Services Québec employee by going to a Services Québec office or by contacting them by phone or email.
