Workforce Skills Recognition

Workers who have experience in their trade can obtain recognition for their skills under the Workforce Skills Recognition Program (RCMO).

The program seeks to evaluate residents of Québec in a trade associated with a professional standard in Québec.

The RCMO is designed for two clienteles:

• Anyone who is unemployed or employed in a trade other than the one for which they want to obtain recognition
• Employers who want to obtain recognition of their employees’ skills

The eligibility criteria vary depending on the trade.

The skills evaluation guidelines are set by sectoral workforce committees. To evaluate your skills, the following methods can be used:

• An interview
• A verification of your theoretical knowledge
• An analysis of the documents submitted with your application
• A practical evaluation of processes and products (evaluation carried out in the workplace, by means of a simulation, or in a specific production framework, etc.)

If you master the skills for your trade, you will be issued a certificate of qualification or an attestation of competency.
