Eligible applicants for charging projects in multiple dwellings

Owners and managers of multiple dwelling buildings are eligible for financial assistance for projects that facilitate the installation of charging stations in the parking areas of these buildings.

Projects may involve the analysis of charging solutions, the upgrade of electrical infrastructure, or the installation of charging stations.

Eligible applicants

Applications for financial assistance may be submitted by:

  • an individual who owns a multiple dwelling building;
  • a business (a property developer, a property manager, a building owner, or a condominium syndicate).

In the case of an individual, the individual must reside in Québec.

In the case of a business, the business must operate and have an establishment in Québec.

The applicant cannot be represented for the submission and processing of their application for financial assistance.

Eligible buildings

The building where the project will be carried out must meet the following criteria:

  • The building must contain three or more dwelling units.
  • The building must be used for residential purposes or for mixed use (for example, residential and commercial).
  • The building must provide parking spaces in a common area.

The building must be located in Québec.

Special case of electrical infrastructure upgrade projects

For electrical infrastructure upgrade projects, the construction date is taken into consideration to determine the eligibility of the building.

Triplex and quadruplex

For a building with three or four dwelling units, the building must have been built before October 1, 2018, to be eligible.

Multiple dwellings with five or more units

As of September 26, 2026, the amendments made to Chapter V, Electricity (in French only), of the Construction Code of the Régie du bâtiment du Québec will require, for buildings with five or more dwelling units, the installation of basic electrical infrastructure in parking areas to supply charging stations.

Buildings constructed after that date will therefore not be eligible for Écorecharge financial assistance for electrical infrastructure upgrade projects.
