Use of subsidized charging stations installed in a multiple dwelling

The acquisition of multiple charging stations for a multiple dwelling is eligible for financial assistance, provided that the use of the subsidized stations is reserved for the residents of the building and their visitors.

The incentive application is submitted by the owner, the property manager, the property developer, or the condominium syndicate.

Authorized use of charging stations

The use of subsidized charging stations must be reserved for charging:

  • electric vehicles owned by residents of the building;
  • electric vehicles owned by visitors of the building’s residents.

Access to the subsidized charging stations must remain prioritized for residents.

Vehicles eligible for charging may include:

  • fully electric vehicles;
  • plug-in hybrid vehicles;
  • electric motorcycles.

Unauthorized use

If the charging station installation project is intended to provide charging services to customers of businesses located in the building, those charging stations are not eligible for financial assistance.

The incentive application must correspond to the exact number of charging stations installed and exclusively reserved for the building’s residents and their visitors.

Future or immediate use of the stations

When the charging station installation project is initiated by the developer, the owner, the property manager, or the condominium syndicate, it is possible to install charging stations in anticipation of future use by the building’s residents.

It is not necessary for residents of the building to already own an electric vehicle for the project to be eligible for financial assistance under this program component.

Maintenance in service for three years

Each charging station in a multiple dwelling that has received financial assistance must be kept in service by the recipient of the financial assistance for a period of at least three years.

If the charging stations are leased, the lease agreement must be for a duration of at least 36 months.
