Fraudulent solicitation

The Gouvernement du Québec does not make phone solicitations or door-to-door visits to promote its energy efficiency programs.

We urge you to remain vigilant if individuals contact you or knock on your door claiming to offer services or products on behalf of the Rénoclimat program.

The goal of these fraudulent individuals may be to pressure you into purchasing services or equipment or to trick you into revealing personal information.

These fraudsters often pretend to work for reputable companies to obtain information from citizens who believe they are dealing with legitimate representatives.

If you believe you have been a victim of fraudulent solicitation

If you believe you have been targeted by fraudulent solicitation, here’s what you can do:

  • File a complaint with the Office de la protection du consommateur.
  • Contact the police department in your municipality.
  • Register your phone number on the National Do Not Call List (DNCL) by calling 1-866-580-DNCL (3625) or visiting lnnte-dncl.gc.ca. This should prevent you from receiving further solicitation calls.
  • If you accidentally shared personal or financial information, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or visit centreantifraude.ca.

Filing a complaint

To constantly improve the quality of our services, we attach great importance to participants’ feedback, suggestions and complaints.

If you are not satisfied with the services you received, we invite you to first contact the Rénoclimat program team. You can share your feedback or express your concerns by email at renoclimat@environnement.gouv.qc.ca.

If you are not satisfied with the response, you may file a formal complaint for second level review (in French only) with the Bureau de la transition climatique et énergétique, part of the Ministère de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (MELCCFP).

Complaints are processed within 20 business days.

If, despite the intervention of the Bureau de la transition climatique et énergétique, you still believe you have been wronged by a decision or omission, you may submit a complaint for processing at a second instance to the Secrétariat général of the Ministère de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs.

A time frame of 20 working days also applies to the processing of these complaints.
