- You obtain a personalized list of relevant retrofits to improve your home’s energy performance.
- You can discuss your renovation plans with an energy efficiency advisor.
- You receive financial assistance for eligible completed retrofits.
By carrying out energy efficiency renovations, you can:
- Improve your home’s energy performance;
- Reduce your home’s energy consumption;
- Increase the comfort and value of your home.
Why choose Rénoclimat
Several signs may indicate energy performance issues in your home:
- Your heating bills are very high.
- You struggle to maintain a consistent and comfortable indoor temperature.
- Your floors are cold, or you feel cold drafts in the rooms during winter.
- You notice mold, humidity, or unpleasant odors.
- Icicles form and hang from your roof every winter.
If this describes your situation, take advantage of the Rénoclimat program to improve the comfort and energy efficiency of your home!
Importance of energy evaluations
The Rénoclimat program includes energy evaluations conducted before and after your renovation work.
Each energy evaluation:
- Is conducted at your home by a Rénoclimat energy efficiency advisor;
- Includes a blower door test;
- Allows you to know the energy performance of your home, established using the EnerGuide rating system.
The pre-retrofit evaluation provides a detailed analysis of your home’s energy performance and offers concrete solutions to improve it.
Overview of retrofits eligible for financial assistance
You may be eligible for Rénoclimat financial assistance if you carry out:
- Insulation work;
- Airtightness work;
- Replacement of doors and windows;
- Installation or replacement of certain mechanical systems.
The retrofits must improve your home’s energy performance to qualify for financial assistance.
Steps to follow
To be eligible for the Rénoclimat program, you must:
- Obtain a pre-retrofit energy evaluation of your home;
- Carry out your renovations;
- Obtain a post-retrofit energy evaluation after completing your retrofits.
Make sure you complete these three steps. Your home’s energy performance before and after retrofits will be compared.
You must obtain an energy evaluation of your home BEFORE starting your retrofits. Any work already completed or started before the first evaluation is not eligible for Rénoclimat financial assistance.
Flexibility of the Rénoclimat program
The Rénoclimat program imposes few restrictions:
- You request and obtain an energy evaluation of your home before starting your renovation projects.
- You take the time you need to complete your renovations. There is no deadline to be eligible for Rénoclimat financial assistance.
- It is not mandatory to complete all the retrofits recommended by the Renoclimat advisor in their report to receive financial assistance.
- The Rénoclimat program does not require that your retrofits be carried out by a contractor. However, ensure compliance with applicable regulations: plumbing and electrical work must be performed by a qualified professional.
Choosing the right financial assistance program
Several financial assistance programs are offered by the Gouvernement du Québec and energy distributors to support residential renovations.
If Rénoclimat does not seem to meet your needs, check whether you are eligible for other financial assistance programs.
