Receiving Rénoclimat financial assistance
If you are eligible, the Rénoclimat financial assistance cheque will be sent to you by mail within 8 to 10 weeks following your post-retrofit energy evaluation.
If your retrofits did not improve your EnerGuide rating or if they are not eligible for financial assistance, you will receive an explanatory email within the same timeframe.
Submitting your Social Insurance Number (SIN)
Never send us your Social Insurance Number (SIN) by email.
After your post-retrofit energy evaluation, you will receive instructions by email on how to securely submit your Social Insurance Number to the Rénoclimat program administrator.
This step is mandatory for your Rénoclimat financial assistance to be issued.
- Revenu Québec requires the government to issue an RL-27 Slip: Government Payments when financial assistance is granted.
- The law requires an individual to provide their Social Insurance Number when an RL-27 slip is issued in their name.
Is Rénoclimat financial assistance taxable?
If you are an individual and you received Rénoclimat financial assistance for personal use, the grant amount is not taxable, and you do not need to include the RL-27 slip in your tax return.
If you received Rénoclimat financial assistance for a business, an organization, or property-related purposes, the amount must be deducted from the capital cost of the acquired property for tax depreciation purposes.

Tracking the processing of your application
The processing and analysis of your financial assistance application takes approximately 8 to 10 weeks after the post-retrofit energy evaluation.
In some cases, the processing time may be longer, particularly in the following situations:
- Your file is incomplete;
- Additional analysis is required;
- Quality control needs to be performed;
- Your Social Insurance Number (SIN) is incorrect or missing.
Keep all proof of your retrofits (invoices, photos, etc.) even after the visit from your Rénoclimat energy advisor. The Rénoclimat program administrator may request additional documents during the analysis of your file.
For information about the status of your application, you can contact our customer service. If possible, include your Rénoclimat file number, which can be found in your energy evaluation report.
Even if there is an unusual delay in processing your application, rest assured that you will receive the financial assistance you are entitled to.
