Subsequent energy evaluation

If you have undertaken new energy efficiency renovations in your home after your initial participation in Rénoclimat, you can request another post-retrofit energy evaluation.

This subsequent energy evaluation is conducted similarly to the initial post-retrofit evaluation. However, a fee of $150 plus applicable taxes is charged for each subsequent evaluation.

If your new renovations are eligible and have further improved your home's EnerGuide rating, you may receive additional Rénoclimat financial assistance.

It is not necessary to request a new pre-retrofit evaluation; the most recent energy evaluation of your home serves as the reference to determine if your new renovations qualify for financial assistance.

Ensure that you have completed significant energy efficiency renovations before requesting a subsequent energy evaluation.

The disbursement of Rénoclimat financial assistance remains contingent upon the improvement of your EnerGuide rating between the two most recent energy evaluations of your home.

You can accumulate Rénoclimat financial assistance amounts, provided that different eligible renovations are undertaken at each stage.  

The maximum Rénoclimat financial assistance available to a homeowner is:

• $20,000 for a single-family home;
• $40,000 for a duplex, triplex, or multi-unit residential building.

A fee of $150 (plus taxes) is required for each subsequent energy evaluation, regardless of your home's size.

Cancellation or travel fees may apply.

During a subsequent energy evaluation, the Rénoclimat advisor will:

• Verify the new renovations completed since the last evaluation;
• Conduct a blower door test to establish your home's new EnerGuide rating;
• Take photographs and collect proof of the completed renovations.

Each subsequent evaluation may last between 45 and 90 minutes.

After the evaluation, you will receive an updated homeowner information sheet and a new EnerGuide label.

The Rénoclimat program administrator will then analyze the collected information to determine your eligibility for additional financial assistance for the new renovations.
